Walter Chan, CPO, CSSM, CPOI, MSI
Director, IFPO Canada

Walter is a retired Ontario Correctional Officer with over 25 years of service and a seasoned leader in corporate security and public safety. Based in Toronto, he has directed recruitment, training, and frontline supervisory programs that have enhanced operational standards, improved officer preparedness, and advanced community safety. Drawing on his extensive career in corrections and municipal security, Walter has designed and delivered training initiatives focused on situational awareness, de-escalation, and professional conduct, ensuring that officers are equipped to meet evolving challenges.

Walter is committed to advancing the profession, Walter holds several IFPO designations, including Certified Protection Officer (CPO), Certified in Security Supervision and Management (CSSM), Certified Protection Officer Instructor (CPOI), and Master Security Instructor (MSI). He actively champions IFPO’s mission of raising the professional standing of security officers by promoting accessible certifications, fostering academic and industry partnerships, and supporting career-long learning opportunities that strengthen individuals, organizations, and communities.

George Hanna, MBA, CPP, CFE, CRM
Advisor, IFPO Canada

George is an accomplished leader whose career spans over two decades at the intersection of security, governance, and enterprise risk. With experience guiding governments, higher education, healthcare, and private enterprise, he has consistently shaped strategies that integrate security with organisational performance, resilience, and public trust. Recognized across the industry for advancing professional standards, his leadership is defined by measurable impact, ethical decision-making, and a commitment to developing the next generation of leaders.

His career has been marked by transformative initiatives in workforce development and technology-driven practice, earning industry and community awards for pioneering solutions and meaningful service. As Advisor for IFPO Canada, a leading not-for-profit organization in the industry, George advances the field while dedicating his time and expertise to serve the professional community, supporting the professionalization of protection officers. He is widely regarded for championing education, credential-based development, and innovation that strengthens both organisational outcomes and the wider security profession. Chris Ocampo, PSP, CRM
Regional Ambassador, IFPO Canada – Western Canada

Chris Ocampo is a Calgary-based physical security and risk management professional with more than a decade of experience in security services. His background includes security operations, integrated security systems, and security risk management. Chris is committed to advancing professionalism in the security industry through mentorship, collaboration, and knowledge sharing, and he looks forward to supporting the development of protection officers through IFPO Canada.

Diego Alfaro, CHSS, CPO
Regional Ambassador, IFPO Canada – Central Ontario

Diego Alfaro is a security training and operations professional based in the Greater Toronto Area with experience in healthcare security, public safety, mentoring, and professional development. He currently works in a training and operations coordination role at Trillium Health Partners and has prior policing experience. Diego is passionate about education, coaching, and advancing professional standards, and he is committed to helping develop the next generation of security professionals through IFPO Canada.
